    OE E30 Recaros

    What would be a fair price for a pair of front seats of OE E30 Recaros, such as these (not my pics);

    Nah, I was trying to gauge what a fair offer would be, since I thought I'd be looking at some genuine E30 optioned Idealsitze, but when I got there, they were in fact LS/N Recaros from an Escort RS2000.
    Still looked good though upon inspection, even better in the car, and should look even betterer once they're back from the upholster guy

    If you're looking for some Recaros though, this guy might be able to sell you a seat or two...

    They look nice! I picked mine up for $1200 and then bought the massive rails to bolt them in, so a bit under $1500 all up.

    Cheers! Yeh, they're in pretty good original condition, and so damn comfortable! Plus they're good encouragement to keep the waist lines trim, don't think the side bolsters are designed with muffin-tops in mind....

    For future reference to others;
    The supporting stretch fabric on the driver's seat is ripped, and the piping around the edges is slipped. There's a small mark on the back of the passenger's seat.
    The fabric is in good condition, and is a rare-ish RS2000 pattern. Debatable if the fabric has any value here in Oz, but it seems it's somewhat sought-after in the UK.
    The rails are modified with some welded on plates to suit the E30 bolt-pattern (to be exchanged for some proper rails & adapters).
    The leg support is adjustable, and all parts are genuine Recaro. One of the seat-folding handles is missing.
    Asking price was $1.5K, sell price $1.3K, which I felt was a fair price for both parties.

    Thanks for the reference nufnsuss.!

    Did you mean to say that you picked up just one seat? ($1.3k)

    So you are getting them re-trimmed (i suppose somewhere in Perth since your profile say W.Aus), but no other repairs (i.e form or recline mechanism) required?

    No probs - $1.3K was for the pair. All foam bolsters were good, and besides the Recaro stretch band underneath the driver's seat, and the missing handle, no further repairs required.

    The reason I'm getting them re-trimmed is mainly due to the fact that these seats are a bit of a milestone 'achievement' in the build, and something I've wanted for the better part of the last decade.
    I wanted a period-correct set, which I always knew would be in less than perfect condition. And considering the cost of the seats alone, it'd be a waste to install them without bringing them back up to scratch first.
    Plus it's a nice opportunity to put some personal touches to the project.

    A guy in Roleystone is handling the re-trim. I saw his work on a Merc 280 SL coupe, which blew me away with it's attention to detail, so fingers crossed, he'll bring similar quality to this Job.
    Though re-trimming these type of Recaros (or even normal E30 Sports seats) is no cheap affair; quotes ranged from $600~$900 per seat.

    So after everything is said and done, I'd say these seats will have made me ~$3K poorer, but should put a smile on my face every time I plant my behind in them.

    Cool, $1.3k for the pair is fair enough since the Gumtree link you posted is asking $1.4k each..!!

    Luke said he paid $1.2k for his, so the going rate seems to be around the 1-1.5k mark.

    Makes perfect sense to get the interior sorted properly in a long term build. $3k is justifiable in something that transforms the interior and adds to the driving experience i reckon.
