17th Feb - Reverse Lake Eildon

For our first drive of the year, lets make it a good one. Reverse Lake Eildon is so named because we used to drive from Melbourne to Lake Eildon, which was the shorter route, and then the route from Lake Eildon to Melbourne was longer, so in reverse now, we do the longer drive in the morning, have a lazy lunch in Eildon, and then do a quick spurt back home again in the afternoon. As usual, all details are below.

    Date: 17th Feb 2013
Meet Point: BMW Bodyshop, Lorimer Street, Port Melbourne. Google Maps Link
Time: 0900 for 0930 departure. Please arrive with a full tank of fuel.
What to bring: Yourself, a mate, friends, family, your car, full tank of fuel, lunch money and optionally, a UHF radio. Not a requirement, but it makes it handy when we miss a turn or lose someone along the way.

We'll be taking the long way to Eildon from Melbourne. You won't need toll money, its all freeway and back roads. Once we get to Eildon for lunch, we'll be taking a squirt through some twisties on the way home. All up it will be around 350km's from our start point to end point. Obviously will be more by the time you get home, but our route will be around 350km's. There's usually a couple of stops we make along the way to let everyone catch up, take a toilet break or even fuel.
Once in Eildon, there is a cafe/small restaurant we'll have lunch at, and then from there, we'll head home. We should finish the day around 230, 3pm. Again, route maps aren't posted online, but they will be provided with an information sheet on the day, containing all the above details and my contact details in case you get lost.
Its been a while since we have done this, the last time we did it, it rained about half way into the cruise, so we stopped short, had some lunch then came home. Hopefully with this good weather we are having down here, we can have an awesome drive.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask away.

So you're going to Bonnie Doon?

Was up that way a few months ago, time before that the lake was empty and this time I've never seen it so full.

Checked my calendar, can't make this one
